So happy to see such a varied programme from all over the world come together for the first ever World Eel Day – thank you to all who have contributed to the day. From documentaries in the USA, to a variety of eel inspired art, writing and biodiversity related research and talks, there’s so much going on – including the sharing of our eels and ladders game, along with The Last Eel on Earth, in educational packs that are free to schools across Norfolk.
Thanks to the Eel Suitcase at the University of Plymouth for working so hard on this, plus all the artists involved! World Eel Day is now more than a larvae and is definitely graduating to glass eel status. Have a look at the programme, share your own facts and celebrations on May 19th and watch out for contributions being shared on social media with the hashtags #WorldEelDay #WorldEelDay23
We are pleased to be working towards plans for World Eel Day 2024 already, with an exhibition planned at Cley Marshes Visitor Centre for May 2024.
