Summer News 2024 + Workshops

By | 24th June 2024

We are delighted to be offering a range of participatory arts workshops for children as part of my Natural Wonder collection in the Summer holidays – 60 children are booked on already, all eligible for Pupil Premium. We have three more days of fairy door inspired sessions on Cary’s Meadow, with a mix of foraging, outdoor play, games, poetry and storytelling and planting for pollinators and wildlife – for children aged 4-13. We also have a Wild Bat Walk and Spray Paint Workshop for 11-13 year olds on August 2nd.

Each session is inspired by biodiversity and one of the poems in my Arts Council England supported collection which children take home – from bats, to dragonflies, to flowers! Food included. Plus we have capacity to offer to one to one support if needed for any SEN children as well as wellies if needed, too (we just to know need shoe size in advance!) These are for children eligible for free school meals and fully funded. Thanks to Active Norfolk and Norfolk County Council.

Wonder of Eels @ National Marine Week, West Runton Beach

Watch out for some of the poems by children created with us as part of our exhibition at Cley Marshes Visitor Centre appearing as a trail on West Runton beach as part of a fabulous event with Norfolk Wildlife Trust on Friday 2nd. Come along and pick up a poem, listen to episodes of our Wonder of Eels podcast and find out more about the wild wellbeing walks that artists have shared as part of the project to help you feel more connected to the landscape as habitat to the European eel. There are lots of other amazing organisations taking part!

Natural Wonder @ Norfolk Green Care Festival

Our Natural Wonder character trail returns to this fabulous festival showcase day this year held at the Walled Garden, Little Plumstead on July 28th – families are welcome to come along and enjoy the trail which is inspired by biodiversity and heritage as they appear in my Natural Wonder collection with beautiful illustrations. This free resource was commissioned by the Broads Authority and is a 20 piece trail used for outdoor learning, to inspire literacy, science and geography curricula links.

Trip to Cley Marshes

We had a really gorgeous trip to Cley Marshes in the May half term thanks to funding from Aviva Access to Nature Fund which the children absolutely loved. Children enjoyed a talk from nature guide Carl Brooker on birds on the marshes, reeds and eels in the natural habitat. Three children who created a collaborative portrait of the European eel on one of the Natural Wonder workshops in the Easter holidays also saw their work on display in our exhibition there, too. Lots of fun was had running through the marshes and spotting birds! Thanks to our lovely team, the Norfolk Wildlife Trust team for such a fantastic visit and to Aviva, Norfolk Rivers Trust and WWF for the support.
