A few workshop and creative opportunities coming up below this Spring!
The Case of the Missing Eel, Friday April 14th
Families can come and write with me on a family workshop at Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Cley Marshes Visitor Centre by taking part in The Case of the Missing Eel. We will be exploring scientific evidence, objects you might find on the beach and artefacts in museums and on loan from the Broads Authority to learn about the journey of this beautiful species – the European Eel. We’ll even have the chance to walk out to real eel habitat, to see where eels live and an extract of my poem installed in natural space, The Last Eel on Earth Book here.
Natural Wonder Holiday Activities
For families eligible for the Big Norfolk Holiday fun support there’s a chance to come and learn about the natural world with the Natural Wonder team during the Easter holidays. Held at the River Garden pub in Thorpe St Andrew’s community room, with sessions outside exploring nature close by – each session includes the chance to play outside, learn about biodiversity, enjoy nature inspired cross curricula reading and literacy activities. We’ll be making mixed media pieces inspired by the natural world and objects and art found in museum collections, as well as taking part in conservational activities and making our own word and nature inspired art to take home. Each session includes food and exercise. You can book here: https://www.everymove.uk/providers/natural-wonder
Recommended Read: Through the Fairy Door
Children (or for grown up children). Delighted that Magic Cat Publishing recently reached out to discuss collaborating on the next Fairy Door Trail on Cary’s Meadow, who’ve recently launched this beautiful book – Through The Fairy Door, from international artist Lars van de Goor. It is filled with a deep reverence for trees, childhood imagination and an inspiring reminder of the power of the seed of imagination to make a difference. With character artwork from Giulia Tomai and words from Gabby Dawnay.
Watch this space for magical doors reappearing soon!
