Art Matters!

Art Matters

I’m commissioned by National Centre for Writing to write a text this year celebrating community art and art in communities – ‘Art Matters’.

You can share as little as three words to take part in this piece – or more if you’d prefer. A love letter to the extraordinary work done by artists in communities; plus those on the frontline of engagement – we are especially interested in hearing diverse ranges of working examples of community, social and public art in action that might help inspire the piece.

The piece will be distributed nationally in 2022 by National Centre for Writing to their networks online with printed copies also available.

Send me three words of why art matters, your thoughts and/or an inspiring example of art having impact in communities that you’d like to see being championed. Where possible, I’m setting up longer interviews on zoom or in person, too – discussing the following:

  • What happens when artists come together with the public to produce art?
  • How does art build connections and foster resilience in communities?
  • Why is it needed?

If easier, you can send your thoughts in the call out below!
