Wonderful to share my socially engaged poem commissioned by National Centre for Writing , celebrating art in communities – Art is The Fire Warming Our Hands.
Art Is The Fire Warming Our Hands pays particular attention to participatory arts, transforming the artworld, enriching communities and opening up how art is created and experienced. The title is inspired by the firepit at Aboriginal knowledge sharing center at State Library Queensland – kuril daghun, found while researching The Art of Relevance by Nina Simon. The poem features works that I encountered while working on the commission from all over the world, the UK, across Norfolk and the East coast of England in particular.
